Haiti Day 3

 Haiti day 3

This morning the ladies made French toast, eggs, and cherry and papaya juice for breakfast. After we went down and shopped at the Haitian artisan market... lots of tin art, paintings, and wood carvings. Next we loaded the tap taps with lots of snacks and water and headed to Grace Village in Titanyen.  They are doing amazing work there. It has a nice clinic, several houses that have about 10-12 kids each where they have a mammy and pappy to take care of them like a family setting instead of an orphanage. A school is also on the yard. The children came out at lunch time dressed up in nice uniforms. Slacks, black shoes, button down shirts and dresses. It’s impressive how all the people dress up. We peeked in on a group of kids about 15 years old were having a dance class.  I felt something touch my arm.... and a little hand was there wanting to hold mine. A very cute little girl.... so sweet.

We waited till they had fixed up some meals in the kitchen there so we could take them to the elders. We visited 3 elders.... older people... some who have been abandoned. We washed there feet and lotioned there arms and gave them shoulder massages. We also sang for them. A girl here who is a long term missionary brought her guitar and played gospel songs as we sang along. When we were ready to leave we prayed with them. It was a very special time. It’s not just the kids that need love and attention. It’s amazing what these people have been through and that they have survived as long as they did. After that we went to Fleri. It is a bakery and restaurant built to employ Haitians.  The bread baking smelled amazing.  This place has only been running a couple years but it has been awesome for the community. They employ 25 Haitians plus they sell bread wholesale to 150 people who resell in their neighborhood. They make 35000 pieces of bread that are similar to breadsticks a day. They sell 2 for about 6 cents. We drank fresh fruit juice and had some awesome food there for supper even though it was the middle of the afternoon. Drove the 45 min trip home in the tap tap. It’s about 11 miles. Took a swim and then had team time. My word for the day is touch... To see other people touched by God’s but more than that the touches God has given me here. It almost seems like it’s doing me more good then what I’m doing for others...
