Haiti day 4

This morning we went to Grace Village again. We had so much fun playing with the kids at their recess time. I think they start going to school at age 4. So when the littles came out we were mobbed and soon had a few on our laps and our arms around a few more. It was so cute to see them eating rice out of the tin bowls. We also made a craft with the children who are sponsored to send back to there sponsors. After we got some pate from the bakery we headed out to another community. This is one of the first times they have sent teams to this area. There is a family that just had triplets that Healing Haiti has kinda adopted... sponsored and given medical care to. We drove back into what looked like jungle. We walked back in between some houses surrounded by banana trees. Under a mango tree we started getting out the colors and pictures and jump ropes and soon children started running to us. It was right outside the triplets house so we got to take a peek at them. So adorable. They are about 4 weeks old. We played with the kids and had an awesome time. It’s amazing how much you can communicate with kids when you don’t understand each others language. They still know what a high five is, a smile a hug or a fist bump. I also held a 3 month little boy for awhile. So cute. One of the boys climbed up the tree to get us fresh mangos to eat. We soon had mango all over our faces. It was sad to say goodbye. These kids loved it so much. They ran after the tap tap when we left. It took about an hour to get back to Port. We went to Max’s restaurant for supper. He is one of our tap tap drivers and has a restaurant that serves pica pollo (fried chicken) or spaghetti. It was some of the best I had with little slivers of potato fried as well as bananns with pikliz( fried plantain with spicy cabbage slaw). I have no idea if I’m spelling that right. Finished the day with mango ice cream. Special moment of the day was having a little girl named Mikenda befriend me. We colored and jumped rope and she taught me the colors in Creole.  A wonderful day.
